Decks and subdecks
Updated on August 5, 2026

Inside a Deck Pack, decks organize your cards by topic, chapter, or any structure that works for you. You can nest them several levels deep to mirror the layout of your subject.
Creating decks and subdecks
In the Deck Pack sidebar press Add New Deck to create a top-level deck. To create a subdeck inside an existing one, right-click it and choose Add Subdeck.
When you are inside a deck that has subdecks, those subdecks appear as buttons near the top of the view for quick navigation.
Hierarchy: collapse and expand
The sidebar shows decks in a tree. To manage the view quickly, use the buttons in the sidebar header:
- Collapse all — collapses all decks that have subdecks.
- Expand all — unfolds the full tree at once.
You can also click on any deck name to expand or collapse it individually.
Moving cards between decks
To move one or more cards to another deck, select them first (regular click to open, long press on mobile or Ctrl + click on desktop to select multiple). When cards are selected, an action bar appears at the bottom with a Move button — press it to choose the destination deck.
Renaming and deleting decks
Right-click a deck in the sidebar to see the options:
- Rename — change the deck's name.
- Move Deck to Trash — sends it to trash. You can recover it from the Trash view before permanently deleting it.
- Permanently Delete — removes the deck and all its cards with no way to recover them.
Deck stats bar
At the top of each deck view there is a stats bar showing two numbers:
- Total — number of non-deleted cards in the deck (or in the deck plus its subdecks, if included).
- Today — cards due for review today.
These numbers help you gauge how much work is left before you start a session.
Searching and filtering cards
In the top toolbar there is a Search cards... field. Type any text and the view filters instantly.
The Filters button opens a panel with two options:
- Include subdecks — also show cards from the current deck's subdecks in the same grid.
- Cards — choose between All Cards, Due Cards, or Not Due Cards.
Bulk actions on multiple cards
Select multiple cards with Ctrl + click (desktop) or long press (mobile). The bottom bar shows Move, Delete, and Clear Selection.
Tip: combine Due Cards with Include subdecks to see everything due today at a glance.
Frequently asked questions
How many subdeck levels can I have? EON does not document a fixed nesting limit. In practice, two or three levels cover the needs of most subjects.
Do subdeck cards appear in the parent deck's review? Yes, as long as you enable Include subdecks in the view filter, or when you start a session from the full Deck Pack's Due today view.
Can I reorder decks in the sidebar? Yes. Drag and drop decks in the sidebar to change their order or move them to a different parent deck.
