Statistics

EON's Stats panel gives you a full picture of your progress. Each metric is designed to help you make a decision, not just to inform you.

Total cards, due, and learned

  • Total Cards — how many cards you have, not counting those in trash.
  • Due Cards — cards due today or overdue. If this grows while your total stays the same, your review pace is below plan.
  • Cards Learned — cards past the initial learning phase and now in the review cycle. A high number means consolidated material.

Total reviews and retention rate

  • Total Reviews — how many times you have answered cards. Reflects accumulated effort.
  • Retention Rate — percentage of correct answers (anything other than Forgot). If it drops, reduce new cards per day or revisit material before adding more.

Average ease and review distribution

  • Average Ease — average ease factor. High = comfortable material; low = difficult concepts that need attention.
  • Review Distribution — splits answers into Forgot, Hard, Good, and Easy. If Forgot dominates, the material may be too dense or the intervals too long.

Card states

Cards are classified into three states:

  • New — never reviewed.
  • Learning — going through the initial learning steps.
  • Review — graduated from the learning phase and now has long intervals.

The state breakdown tells you whether you are adding new material at a sustainable pace or whether you should hold back on new cards until you consolidate what is already in review.

Deck Pack progress and average interval

The Deck Pack Progress section shows, for each pack, the mastery level and the Avg. interval — the average days between reviews. A high value means well-consolidated material that does not need frequent review.

Study time, current streak, and longest streak

  • Study time — accumulated minutes spent in review sessions.
  • Current Streak — consecutive days in which you reviewed at least one card. It is the most direct indicator of consistency.
  • Longest Streak — your best streak ever. Use it as a reference for setting new goals.

The streak depends on the timezone set in your account. Changing your timezone can affect which days EON counts as "today".

Backlog warnings and recovery estimate

If your overdue cards are far above your daily limit, EON shows an Excessive backlog warning with the number of overdue cards and how many days it will take to catch up. Use that figure to adjust the daily limit in Review Preferences or switch planning modes.

Metric updates

Statistics are generated automatically. If you just finished a session and the numbers do not reflect it, use the Refresh metrics button to force an update. The app shows the Last updated time so you know whether the data is fresh.

Tip: check the statistics panel once a week, not after every session. Long-term patterns are more useful than day-to-day changes.

Frequently asked questions

Does the retention rate include cards I am still learning? The metric covers all rated reviews. Cards in the learning phase count too.

Why can the average interval drop when I add new cards? New cards start with short intervals, which pulls the average down. This is normal when you add new material.

Are statistics calculated per Deck Pack or for the whole account? The panel shows global data, but the progress section breaks it down by Deck Pack so you can see which one is most behind.
